Personal stories
Jeroen, Field Operator

Jeroen Hulshof
Position: Operator in High Density Polyethylenes plant, since August 2005
Education: MTS Process Engineering, Heerlen
Why SABIC?
'I learnt about SABIC at an open day we attended via school. SABIC runs big plants with ample development opportunities. I liked that. The positive stories from people I knew who were already working for SABIC also made me want to work here.'
Discovering plants
'At this point I am still in training to become familiar with the plants. There are three plants in the High Density Polyethylenes business unit, so my work as an operator is highly diversified. I work in a team with a five-shift system, which is excellent. My work is done mostly in the field - solving problems at the plant and supporting the service department.'
Practical courses
'I first attended a number of safety courses, including a fire safety course. I then did a forklift course, at present I'm doing a tractor course. SABIC provides good guidance, everyone is willing to help.'
Expectations
'When I started at SABIC, we both expressed our expectations. To date, all of mine have been realized. In future, I would like to move ahead and become a control room operator. I want to achieve that in the next ten years.'
Work is work?
'Of course work is work, but SABIC is simply a great company to work for. The excellent terms of employment are a nice benefit and for me personally, it's near my home, so I'm at work in no time.'
