SABIC develops improved, eco-friendly HDPE bottle grade in Europe

SITTARD, Netherlands - Mar. 12, 2008 - SABIC is proud to announce a product development breakthrough by introducing SABIC® HDPE B6246LS into the European dairy market. This new bottle grade is specially designed for high value dairy bottles because it combines improved organoleptic properties with an increased environmental friendliness.
Gentler on the environment

With increasing demand for more health-oriented items like reduced fat dairy products, enriched milks, and yoghurt drinks, the health trend is clearly here to stay. SABIC® HDPE B6246LS has outstanding organoleptic properties, thus preserving the taste and smell of milk longer than traditional HDPE grades. It retains these improved organoleptic properties, even after multiple extrusion steps. SABIC® HDPE B6246LS also has an overall improved purity and sets a new industry standard in terms of migration performance.
Customer friendly
SABIC's unique process/catalyst combination used during manufacturing of SABIC® HDPE B6246LS results in an exceptional stiffness/impact balance. Bottle producers can accordingly further stretch the limits in reducing the bottle weight.
Another key characteristic of SABIC® HDPE B6246LS is its high thermal stability and low sensitivity to thermo-oxidative degradation. This means producers can experience shorter start-up times on their machines and increased line efficiency.
