SABIC launches conversion efficient polypropylene flowpact composite for European Thin Wall Packaging Industry

SITTARD, The Netherlands – October, 28th 2008 – SABIC is proud to announce a polypropylene product development breakthrough by introducing SABIC® PP FPC55 into the European Packaging market during the AMI Thin Wall Packaging 2008 event in Cologne from 28th till 30th October SABIC specially developed this innovative grade in response to the specific needs of today’s injection moulding market, requiring improved conversion efficiency and value for money.

SABIC completed its REACH pre-registration successfully on October 10, 2008

Hereby we have extended our REACH license-to-produce and license-to-import to December 2010. As from now, SABIC officially will start the registration process for 90 chemical substances. These products are partly manufactured in Europe, but chemicals & polymers imported from Saudi Arabia are also covered.

SABIC to add pharmaceutical grades to its European polyolefins portfolio

SABIC is to launch in Europe a new family of special polyethylene grades for the European pharmaceutical packaging industry, as of 1st July 2008. The new grade family will comprise 7 new SABIC® LDPE and 2 SABIC® HDPE grades.

SABIC to build new PP compounding plant in Genk, Belgium

SABIC is to build a new compounding plant in Genk, Belgium. The plant will have an initial production capacity of 110kt SABIC® PPcompound and 30kt of SABIC® STAMAX long glass fiber PP. It is expected to come on-stream at the beginning of 2010.

SABIC Europe to increase July polyethylene prices in Europe

SABIC Europe announced today that, as of the 1st July 2008, it will increase prices in Europe by €200 per ton for all of its HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE products.

Mosaed Al-Ohali and Huub Meessen new Managing Board Members

Mosaed Al-Ohali recently joined the Managing Board of SABIC Europe in the position of Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director Chemicals and Intermediates and Huub Meessen will join the Managing Board as Managing Director Polymers. They succeed Abdullah Bazid and Koos van Haasteren, respectively, who both have been appointed in positions at SABIC Headquarters in Riyadh.
