As a byproduct of their processing operations, SABIC Europe’s plants generate wastewater. We treat all wastewater prior to discharge in order to avoid contamination of surface water. We also endeavor to apply state-of-the-art technology for the design and construction of all new installations, in order to further minimize this risk.
SABIC Europe’s wastewater has remained at constant levels during recent years. However, chemical oxygen demand (COD), a measure of contamination, decreased by more than 20% in 2005 due to a naphthacracker maintenance stop.
